When we made the reservation to have our Family Reunion at the Old Church Campground - we asked if there was a service project we could do as part of our reunion. Joe - the Park Manager - was Julie's Dad's assistant - Julie babysat his kids - they called her 'Chewie' pretty good rendition of Julie I think! Anyway- Joe knows Stan and trusts him and asked if we could make park benches - yes we have wonderful skilled sons and son-in-laws - and we planned to use a morning and build them. Here is the trailer and boards that the Park brought over to us.
Chris Kroeber brought his power saw and we used electricity from the Church - all the men got involved and did a great job.
They had a real assembly line going - Sam measured, Chris K. cut - Dad and Stan did the bolt things.
Chris W. and Jason Hardy putting the ends together...Kurt helping in the background.
Each doing their job - we were very proud of all of them...and the benches turned out wonderful!
Lots of hard work - and using skills of all.
Finished six benches - ran out of hardware to do more...enough boards for nine. Don't they look great?
Chris W. pulled the trailer over and back with his truck. They went up on the lake and installed three of the benches, Dan helped with the cement work - they could have installed more but ran out of cement...all in all a wonderful half a days work. The park was very pleased with the results.
