We wanted to honor our USA Flag someway - the six Cub Scouts in the family - and Uncles Chris W. and Chris K. helped us. Noah and Luke borrowed shirts - Joel also. It was pretty moving to be reminded of how great "Old Glory" is - and what a great country we live in.
Chris had the boys line up and bring the flag toward the fire pit.
They led us all in the Pledge of Allegiance - pretty moving - we are truly blessed to live in America.
Chris K. taught us all about 'retiring' a flag that is tattered and torn. This is our old flag from our house in Pocatello - about two years old and faded and fraying. Chris told us about coming home from Iraq and seeing the people at the airport waving 100's of flags - pretty emotional. They boys are going to burn this old flag - disposing of it in the way recommended by the Boy Scouts.
All that remains - and it burned totally when we put more wood on the fire...Thanks so much Chris and Chris and Cub Scouts - wonderful job.
