Students Against Destructive Decisions S.A.D.D.

When I arrived at Pocatello High School to sub this Wednesday - I saw this casket in the main hallway - then realized it was S.A.D.D. week - like the sign says: Don't let this be your next ride.  They changed the usual SADD - Students Against Drunk Driving - to Students Against Destructive Decisions - great change - teenagers make more bad decisions than just drunk driving.
The smashed car was on the plaza between school buildings - pretty sobering.
Another view of the smashed car...really smashed.
This information was posted on the back window of the smashed car - I saw many students stop and read it and hopefully internalize the message - so sad when young lives are lost needlessly.
On Thursday there was a demo on the street in front of the school - all classes were brought to stand on the front lawn and watch the event.  I recognized several of the Drama students - they played the 'victims'.  The young lady laying on the street was 'dead' on arrival of emergency responders - they covered her with a white sheet while they 'worked' on the others.  When the sirens of the ambulances and fire truck were coming toward the school, two young ladies near me began hugging - I told them: "you know it is pretend, but it is still upsetting" - they agreed.
To the far left were two police cars, then you can see the Grim Reaper - standing over the 'dead' girl, and the fire truck and at far right the back of the first ambulance that came.  There were two ambulances and they treated the injured and took them to the hospital - sirens blaring.
