Liberty's Missionary Lesson

 We have been blessed to have a couple of missionary lessons in our home.  The cute girl in the gray sweatshirt is Liberty McIntire (Libby) - the one in pink is one of my Primary girls and the oldest daughter of our home teacher, lst C in our Bishopric.  Libby has been investigating the church for over a year and wants to be baptized.  The Elders are teaching her and it is fun to be one of the homes she comes to.  She lives just across the street from us so it is pretty easy.  The elder without a suit coat has a cousin that served in Jamaica the same time we did!  Small world!

After the lesson we had a yummy dessert - love missionary work!

Serving Lunch at the Institute

 When you are Church Service Missionaries - which we love being!  you get to help out in lots of places.  We were talking to the Institute Director and he asked if we could help on Mondays at the Institute Lunch program...of course we can.  There is another senior couple who is facing surgery and will be out the month of November...so we will be there only on Monday's to take their place.  Here Dad is just finished chopping onions - pretty neat gadget!

I am putting the sour cream in a big bowl, adding milk and then putting it back into the containers.

 The lunch menu always has two items - the entree was baked potatoes, and the side was Polish dogs.  The main dish always costs $2.00 - and the side .50 - .75 cents.  We love that college students can pay .50 cents and get a corn dog!  Kate came over on Monday - she has a class nearby and comes often to eat lunch there - two of her friends came after her ... they walked in and said:  Who are Kate's parents?  We were happy to meet them.

Here we are finishing up the baked potatoes in the micro wave - some were not done and ready to serve. We love the apron and theme:  Feed the Body,  Nourish the Soul,  Take Institute!!

Annabelle experiment and last of the flowers

 Annabelle is always finding cool things online for us to try!  She and Kate came up Friday evening - she brought food coloring and I provided the mile and dish soap.  You put milk in a container - then drop different food colors, then put dish soap drips on top - it is magic! the colors move and create fun patterns.

 They keep moving for quite a while - we did it several times.  We wondered if a clear glass dish would make a difference - not much -the while milk is the same.  We looked online and it had the experiment and told us what makes the colors move.  The fat molecules in the mile react with the molecules in the dish soap - something about polarization - or something.  It was fun and reminded me of Granny's old white egg carton and dropped you kids would mix colors with - fun and educational!

 Dad started pulling up the flowers in the front flower bed - now that it is freezing most nights and they are looking a little faded.  I rescued enough to make two small bouquets for Church today - this is one and Kate took the other one to her house to enjoy for a few days.

We have really enjoyed the flowers all summer - kind of sad to see them go - but I love the snow and winter also... so we will just roll with the seasons and enjoy what we have.

First Snow, ISU Crab Feed and Sunset

 We had our first snow storm today - didn't stay long but was pretty while it lasted.

 The Idaho State Women's Basketball team hold an annual fundraiser - Crab Feed.  Brother Packer - the Institute Director gave complementary tickets to all the senior missionaries -at $35.00 a piece we wouldn't have gone otherwise!  It was fun and delicious!

Doesn't Dad look happy?  Full of yummy crab!  The Student Union Ballroom was full - and they announced over 400 people were there.

 This was after people had been eating for 45 minutes - it was all you can eat and we went back twice!

Happy Birthday Polly!

 Sunday we went to Heather's Primary Program practice - attending Sacrament meeting with their family also - Chris was at Drill and Isaac stayed home being sick!  Afterward we went to Lindsey's and played with the kids.  Here Sweet Millie and I are showing off our polka dot shirts!

 Aunt Polly came over early to visit a while before we celebrated her Birthday Dinner!

 Dan was showing 'funny' pictures on his computer - so much laughter - good for the soul!

 Aunt Polly - with eight of your adoring nieces and nephews - Lindsey made the delicious chocolate truffle, the lemon cream cakes are from Smiths - we paid for them!!

It was a wonderful time with wonderful people that we love very much.  Wish we could all be together - maybe next family reunion we'll have a huge birthday party for everyone!

Halloween 2015

 On Halloween we drove to Provo - lots of fun reasons - we wanted to celebrate with the Kroeber and Fairbanks grandkids,  we got to see Eli and Keenyn in their Primary Program practice, (Isaac got sick and stayed home)  and we wanted to be in person to help Polly celebrate her birthday!  Here are the cute Kroeber kids in their Halloween costumes - loved seeing them...also love that Heather loaned Isaac her boots!  Briella being a 'baby' is pretty funny!

 Here we are with the darling Fairbanks girls - the sun was very bright!  Notice the pretty flower that Jennie planted for Lindsey - still beautiful!  The cute pumpkin costume Georgia is wearing, and sweet Millie, are the same that the older girls wore.  Katie bought the tiny one for Olivia's first Halloween, then Sadie wore it and Olivia the two year old one, then Sadie the bigger one, with Georgia the tiny one - now it is Millie's turn!

We stayed home and gave out treats while Mom and Dad took the other girls around the neighborhood.  We can't get enough of holding these precious little angel.

Haunted Science Lab

 The Kiwanis Club of Pocatello sponsors this fun Halloween event.  Kate went last year with Anna's third grade class so we took the kids this afternoon.  It is in an old warehouse on the west side of town.

 This was something with laser and water - not sure what.  The students were at each station to explain what was happening - pretty slick to have some Halloween fright fun and education at the same time!!

 Joel and Anna put on masks and sat on each side of this glass thing - not sure what it was supposed to do - but they liked it.

Notice the head on the table behind them - it was moving all around - the 'table' was really mirrors!  Fun way to spend a few hours on the Saturday before Halloween.
