Jamaica Mission Fireside

 On Saturday, August 16th, Vince and Corliss Whitehead came to Pocatello - we met outside the Costco Store.  They are on their way back to Jamaica to help humanitarian projects for the next 9 months.  They are taking some things to the island for us - what great people!

This is Whitey Gardner, and Conner Tracy - they were our 'trainers' in our first area - Ocho Rios.  they taught us so much - we love them!

 Our first Christmas, Dec. 2010 - these three elders were in a threesome in Ochie.  Elder Conder is engaged!  Elder Gardner is getting married this week and Elder Tracy has one year left at BYU.  These three were on top of the Russell's apartment - they had a big patio up two stories.  The cruise ships came pretty close and on Christmas Morning - these three were yelling at the cruise passengers - Merry Christmas!

 Sister Bonnie Herbert from Anchorage Alaska was in Utah for Education Week at BYU - so happy to see her.  She works in the temple with Aunt LaNore.

Sister Sheryl Medley happened to be in Utah also - visiting her sister - neat to have a Jamaican with us!

Bird Feeders

We bought this hummingbird feeder at a thrift store in Jackson Hole, last week.  See the hummingbird at the right?  There has been as many as three at one time - fun for us.

 More hummingbird pictures - they don't pose very well.

This hummingbird came right toward the door and looked in at Dad!

 We also put up our tweety bird feeder - lots of chickadee's - finches - sparrows - watching them is sure fun.

 There have been as many as eight birds on the deck - they eat at the feeder and then drop lots of seeds on the deck.  So some birds are eating them from the floor.

This squirrel took advantage of the birdseed on the floor and helped clean up the deck!

Pocatello Misc.

 Sunday night, August 10th we had the latest Super Moon - not as dramatic as it was in person - paper said it was 33% brighter and 14% larger than usual.  It sure was pretty.

 After dark it was still awesome.  We walked up our road to the end to see it better, then called Kate and Ben and kids to go out of their house and watch it also - they did!

 We had a big rain, hail, wind storm and it knocked over this huge pine tree in Ammon park - the one between Mortensen's house and ours.

Last of the Dam Jam 2014

 Uncle Stan dancing with Olivia during one of the fun Blue Grass songs - he danced with Sadie also - they loved it!

 Stan singing Grandma's Feather Bed - we all sang along and it was as much fun as usual.

 Saturday morning we came back and played with Bridger - Heidi bought this baby thing at a consignment shop in Bozeman and sold it to friends of Julie who have a baby a little big younger than Bridger.  I wondered how she got that on an airplane!

 Uncle Stan and a Fairbanks girls totem pole!!  Stan was playing with the girls and some of Julie's relatives mentioned that he was a great uncle to play like that...Julie mentioned that there were 25 other neices and nephews and yes - Stan is an awesome uncle to play with them.

I feel badly we didn't get the traditional on the stairs picture while Chris and Polly were with us on Friday evening - here is the Saturday family were were there.  One of these years we will have to have a family reunion end or begin at the Dam Jam!!!

 We had some tired girls as the evening wore on - Sadie and Olivia have their own camp chairs.

 Riddick actually destroyed this tennis ball - he chewed the cover off and then took a bite out of the rubber!

More Dam Jam 2014

This is just at the north side of the Old Church - because of a flash flood there was lots of mud in the lower part so many people had to park and camp on the north side.  Julie and her Grandpa - notice family in the background.

Wanted to post this picture also of Julie and Grandpa - great to see these wonderful people at least once a year.

 Sadie was scared of Riddick at first - Georgia not a bit!  I think Sadie got over a little bit of being afraid - there were lots of dogs there.  Riddick was nice and let them maul him.

 The current park ranger brought this great horned owl - he found it with a broken wing and is helping it get better.  Julie asked her grandpa if he had seen the owl - he answered; WHOOO?  so funny.  Heidi with Bridger in at the right.

 He also has a falcon that he brought out - it kept calling and calling, over and over...pretty neat also.

This is the beginning of the Pot Luck Friday evening - it got more crowded as the evening wore on, but there was plenty of food and fun for everyone.

At the Old Church - Rockport Dam Jam

 We got to Rockport early Friday evening - the girls had a great time 'dancing' on the stage at the Old Church.

 They would 'dance' and sing songs - so cute!

 So much energy with these two - love it.

 Stan and Julie arrived pretty soon after we did.  Notice the jars of Dam Jam Jam on the bench.

 Stan brought his huge chair and everyone took Photo Ops in it - Georgia was first!

Sadie and Olivia - really people would sit and have their photo taken, then they would put their dog in the chair and take pictures of it!  I told Stan, if these was Jamaica - he would charge a fee for that!
