Saturday Fun in CO

Saturday we took the five oldest kids to McDonalds - Clark's first time there!  We only had a short time before the whole family went to Big Hero 6 - loved the movie - Sheffield slept and Faye was only scared at one of the violent scenes... but she had her Daddy to hold her as she covered her eyes!
Aunt Sue came to help Savanna make Faye's birthday cake.  Savanna had a YW goal to make a cake and learn to decorate - I have two very talented sisters!
Savanna was so intent on learning all that she could.
The other kids wanted to 'help' and watch - Emma and Faye picked out ponies to place on the cake when it was finished.
Savanna doing the frosting just like Aunt Sue taught her to.
Different tips make different shapes and Savanna did them all very good.
Not quite finished - but almost.  The ponies would be placed on the cake just before the party.  Thanks Aunt Sue - love you.

Tiny Sheffield

Saturday, November 8th - we drove to Parker to meet tiny Sheffield - he is absolutely perfect!  like all our other grandchildren!!
I think Clark took this picture - kind like the blurry look - covers the wrinkles!
Wonderful Smith Men - three generations - love them all!
So happy to finally hold this newest grandchild in my arms.
Grandpa also loved holding him.

Craft Show - Smoky Hill High School

Saturday morning Sue took me to a fun Craft Sale at Smoky Hill High School - her friend made this fun bench!
These ladder picture frames were interesting and creative.
Old ice skates - great vase for holiday flowers.
Frames with wires and clothes pins - everlasting picture frame!
Cupcake ornaments made from small Christmas balls - only problem - they can break
Matt found this old hand chair on the side of the road - makes a great place to stack wood for the fireplace.

Colorado Visit

On our flight to Denver, Friday November 7th - the sunrise was amazing - so dark red - this picture from the airplane window doesn't do it justice - obviously!
We went to Aunt Sue and Uncle John's - Kurt came over to assess their hail damage - see the holes in the siding?
There is also damage on the upper level - Kurt is going to be very helpful from the insurance angle - yay for family!

Teacher's Posters

It is fun to see what teachers have up on their walls when I sub in their rooms - this is for Polly and Sydney!
Another grammar poster - most papers have at least one of these errors!
Love this!  and love teaching AND learning!
 Very good information!
An art class had painted some of their blinds!
This is the orchid that Kate gave me for Mother's Day in May!  It is blooming again - and there are more buds on the end of the stem.  We are enjoying it again!

Black Widow Spider

When Kate and Ben and kids came to dinner Sunday afternoon, they brought a black widow spider they caught from their sliding screen door.  "Almost in my house!" Kate said.
It really is a big spider for a black widow - we had quite a discussion about what to do with it.  Ben wanted to grant a pardon and let it go - I wanted to freeze it in the fridge and then smash it - don't know what the final result was.  Anna has a friend who has a pet spider and she wanted to show her this one.

Polly's Birthday, November 1st, 2014

This morning Dad and I and Kate with kids headed to Springville to help celebrate Polly's Birthday.
She thought Lindsey and Heather were going to take her out to lunch at LaCasita - and we were there when she came.
She thought Chris had to work - and he did, but got off in time for the birthday lunch.  Sydney happened to be in Provo for another event - loved having all that could come.  Chris K. was at drill this weekend, and Eli went with a friend.
Lindsey got a Costco Pumpkin Pie for a birthday cake - Chris got the whipped cream from the waitress.
We had one Louie Specials, four burrito's, one nachos, and eight tacquitos... yummy!
Here is the grandchildren table...so happy to have Sydney in Provo today!!
Heather, Keenyn, and Briella enjoyed their table.  Briella was eating the salsa that came with the chips, with her spoon!
