Rebekah and Myles Wedding, October 11, 2014

Bekah came down the stairs and her Dad was waiting to escort her to the front of the room.
Myles was waiting for his bride ... the Minister was ordained by the State of Utah - and is a K-9 dog handler - something Myles wants to become in the Navy.  See the dog between them?  Names Sam and he stayed by his master the whole time.  Love Myles smile looking at his bride.
May I present Mr. and Mrs. Myles Schumacher!

Sam watching carefully all the proceedings.
The Bride and Groom outside for pictures.

Fairbanks Girls

We had the great privilege of tending the darling Fairbanks sisters on Friday, October 10 - Lindsey had work meetings in Salt Lake most of the day.  here they are playing 'dress up' - loved it!
We had business at UCCU and this is their play area - fun!
Olivia scored these treasures on our D.I. trip -'Frozen' dress, furry hat, pink sun hat, pink purse, and small basket with red beads on it.  The other girls also got lots of fun things.
Watching a Strawberry Shortcake video with Grandpa.
Olivia opened a couple of Birthday presents early - so we could be a part of it.  This furry hamster mimics back what is said to it - we all had a good laugh with it.
After Lindsey got home we went to East Bay to watch the movie: Meet the Mormons.  This view is amazing - the movie was good also!

More Posters

More English posters - I'm not certain what a 'slam poem' is - but I think it must be said harshly!
Apparently citing sources is a big deal in this English class - as well it should be!
I think this is from Breakfast Club - Principal with the TP on his shoe!
Not anymore - students are assigned to use their phones in doing their school work!
Sad - but true!

English Class Posters

These are in honor of our very own English Teacher Polly and our English Teacher to BE - Sydney Fromm - the teacher I subbed for must have a great sense of humor!
This must be a little harsh - but funny!
This is a universal problem and as a sub - I basically don't make them wait - plus most high school students are bigger than me!
 More funny posters.
 Love the Credible Hulk!
Part of the students assignment was to do some Dictionary work - the teachers notes said they could use the books at the back of the room, or their phones!  One girl said she was going to use the books because using her phone was too expensive .. she didn't want to pay for doing school work.

Subbing at Pocatello High School

Last week I was called to sub in an English class at Pocatello High School - built before 1917.  The English Dept. is in the oldest part of the school - I think.  This is a black board at the back of the room.
The corner that was broken off - shows it is real 'slate' - oh my!
This is the table by the door into and out of the classroom.  The TP holder is taking the place of the Kleenex box I guess ... pretty funny!
Closer picture - reminded me of the teacher in Stow, Ohio that I subbed for and he had a toilet seat for a Hall Pass - not too many students requested to use it!!
The bane of all teachers - papers with NO NAME on them!  It was a good day ... high school students are real people and can carry on a very decent conversation!

Activity Day Girls

Kate's ward had a great Activity Day project.  Here Annabelle is sewing squares in a row for a small blanket.
Here Anna is cutting off the extra fabric for the back of the blanket.  No batting, no ties, just a cute little blanket.
Each of the girls had an adult and a sewing machine - Kate helped Jillian, a neighbor and friend, I helped Anna and Neah - Jillian's older sister.
Girls choose which package of quilt squares they wanted - Anna choose blue, Jillian choose pink.
I had subbed in Girls PE and had to hurry to the church right afterward!
Anna was the first one finished - here Jillian and Kate are almost finished.
Three girls, three blankets - and lots of learning and fun.  Kate said last night that Anna hadn't let go of her blanket all evening!

Pumpkins Plus

All the pumpkins from the four plants we planted last May!  Joel, Anna and neighbor Grace.
We will have jack-o-lanterns and pumpkin pie!
Grace swinging in the Jamaican Swing we sent Mortensens.
Friday, October 3rd was a Teacher Development day so the kids were out of school.  Anna and I bought fabric and a poodle  and made this skirt - she is not certain she will wear it for Halloween, but I told her to save it for her little girls!  So easy - colored elastic to sew the fabric to!
Saturday Morning Joel had the first soccer game - 8:30 perfect for making conference at 10! Joel's team was aqua blue the other team green - very alike and hard to tell apart!
The other team had this fold up 'bench' - It made me think we would have gotten this for our family - or three of them!
