Memorial Day we visited the Field of Honor - set up at Century High School - names and crosses for all those who have died from the latest wars...very sobering.
Battle flags of the units represented.
Medal of Honor winners from each war - very courageous stories of their deeds.
Polly taking a picture of a friend of theirs - Ronald Wood. We must always be grateful for others who sacrificed for our freedom.

Idaho Falls Temple
Sunday after Church we drove to Idaho Falls to show Polly the Temple .. we went to the Visitors Center and enjoyed the lovely day.
We stopped down the road and walked along the river - very pretty scenery.
Service Project - flowers
I visit teach a 90 year old who had empty flower pots in front of her house. Polly and I got these flowers and planted them in the pots!
So nice to have good help!
They look so pretty! Now we hope they will live through the summer! My friend's 70 plus year old daughter said she would water them.

Idaho State Junior High School Rodeo
We visited the Idaho State Junior High School Rodeo at the Pocatello Fairgrounds and had a good time. They tie this little goat up and then girls ride up and throw it and tie the legs like the men do with a steer.
These kids were practicing roping - nice to see.
Some horses would run away after the girl got off to tie the goat ... this one stood still like a good range horse!

Polly visits Pocatello
We took Polly over to the nature center and our training trail - here is the fish pond - limit two trout a day!
We walked 2 miles along the Portneuf River - we have watched this pair of geese - can you see the three goslings in the water near the front of the parent goose on the right?

Our trusty Ford Ranger from Montana is getting older! But still going strong! 284999 milesNow 285000 miles - what an awesome truck! plus it's paid for and permanently registered!
Friend from Jamaica
Sister Chrina Hudson joined the Church in Junction, Jamaica just before we came there - she is going to school in Rexburg and we got to see her for a few minutes before she went to class.
She is majoring in Vocal Performance and then wants a degree in Psychology - she has a 5 year student visa - but misses her family a little bit. We are so proud of her!

Mother's Day and Sue and John visit Pocatello
Look at all the fun gifts, and wonderful cards I received for Mother's Day! Fur gloves, WA apples, beautiful flowers, mini rose bush, grand children pictures, warm leggings, candy, Dad gave me an electronic can opener - helps my old hands! I feel very loved!
Sue and John stopped on their way home from Northern Idaho - visiting Berkely and Ben - Sue is helping me quilt a tee shirt quilt for my brothers - made from some of Gramps old shirts.
Not too bad for old folks!! Sue had her knee operated on and is very happy about that - it took a month rehab to feel better - like she said: "I'm old - and you are older!"

sewing costumes and moving an organ
Here the RS Sisters of the stake are sewing the costumes for the Youth Cultural Celebration - ironing in the back.
It's pretty easy to sew when someone else cuts out the fabric, irons it and then you just sew the seams! We did 45 men's and 75 women's - all in two days.
Our Missionaries brought the old organ that was Kate and Ben's up from the basement - they were taking it to their apartment. Big one at the back of the organ ia a football player - had a scholarship to a school in CA - the coach cut him when he told him he was going on a mission. Two days before going to the MTC - Dixie State Univ. in St. George called and offered him a full ride when he got home from his mission!
Nice to have a truck for things like this!

Saturday, May 13th we went part of our stake assignment to help park cars at the Idaho Temple open house. We all met at the temple and then drove to our assigned lots at stake centers in the area. It was cold and windy.
Here's the parking tent on the temple grounds were we got instructions.
Flowers at the temple - so pretty.
More of the pretty spring flowers.
Dad at our stake center - freezing and directing traffic!
My by a big Volvo bus - it actually lowers down after stopping so people can step off.

Kate's Birthday and new roof
Our Christmas Cactus has one or two late bloomers - Mother's Day flowers!
Kate's birthday dinner - in Logan - yummy food - great company!
Getting our new roof.
Getting the old shingles off was a 2 and a half day job - putting new ones on - one day!
Dad watching the crane unload the packages of shingles...reminded me of a small boy doing the same thing.

Lunch in West Yellowstone
Thia likes how the bubble gum in the goys made noise when she would shake them!
Three generations of love!
When we came in - this sign said something like - Welcome to Lunch! Should have taken a picture then!!
Thia loves to ride on her Daddy's shoulders - we love any time we can spend with them!!
Trip to Hebgen Lake
Saturday, May 6th, we drove to Montana and met Stan, Julie and Thia at the intersection where they came up from Bozeman. Stan led the way to the Yellowstone Holiday Resort where the Big Fishing Adventure is going to happen this summer. We noticed a sign on the side of the road that warned us of Bison on the road ... sure enough - we came over a small hill and there they were!
Stan turning to go around them ... huge animals.
They had crossed the road and were heading to the green grass on the other side - when we got there.
Here is the Lodge and Office of the Yellowstone Holiday - cute Julie and Thia ... and Riddick!
Closer so you can see the pretty ladies!
Walking to the cabins.
Such as pretty day and wonderful company!
The view to the west of the parking lot.
The view to the south west - - there were some people with kayaks using the boat launch.
