New Treadmill - let's get running! plus snow and ice

This is our wonderful new treadmill Stan and Julie gave us for Christmas - we love it!  and them!! and all of you!!!
Close up - - so nice to NOT drive across town to the Mall to walk in the mornings - we get to stay home and exercise here!
Dad getting his work out in - - cute isn't he?  We also like our new running shoes - thanks to Jennie, Emilee, and Lindsey's good ideas - and Sam money!  Great Christmas for the exercise minded.  Look out half marathon - here comes too old people trying to think they can do this!!!
Picture of the big bush out side my sewing room - loaded with snow.
Huge icicle outside our French doors - on the deck - pretty cold and icy!

RS "Golden Girls"

Here is the printed program from our RS Midweek Meeting - Jan. 17th, 2017
Each YW interviewed an older sister - then read the info...I did Sister Badger as she was going to be out of town visiting family in Missouri - coming back on the airplane with a granddaughter going to the MTC for a mission.
The back of the program -this one we didn't use - I printed the words to Getting to Know you and didn't get the spacing right - made it better for the real programs!  Fun Evening!!
Tuesday, January 17th, we had our first Midweek Meeting for RS - we decorated with golden things for our "Golden Girls" - those sisters over 80 - three that are 90!  in our ward.  Lots of golden tinsel, etc. on sale after Christmas - we used real china, silverware and class glasses - clothe napkins.
The RS room wasn't big enough - the cultural hall is too big - so we moved the couches and chairs out of the foyer and set up 6 tables!  Pretty huh?  We had name tags on the tables for everyone to get to know each other better.  I found the middle golden star at the dollar store!!
Sister Tina Rose - our Committee leader - we served  rolls with chicken salad, spinach and strawberry salad, cherry bars and chocolate cookies.

Great turn out - we gave the senior sisters a small boutannaire - flower - the Activity Days girls and YW served everyone.
After eating we went to the RS room and sang: "Getting to Know YOU"  - it was fun.  Check out the cool golden decorations about the curtains hiding the blackboard!  A sister on our committee made a short power point about the history of the last 80 - 90 years - so much fun. She showed a picture of Elvis Presley and one older sister said: I was in love with Elvis - another one said: "My sister still is!"
See the 12 red long stemmed roses?  We had each YW interview the older sisters in their homes and then read the information - then give them a rose.  The YW learned that these sisters are real people and had accomplishments in their lives - many spoke about rationing during WWII - and putting cardboard in their shoes when they wore out - you could only have one new pair of shoes a year!
One of our 80 year olds tap dances with a group of grandmas!!  She finished our program by dancing a short number - then her garnd daughter joined her!
Tap dancing on the carpet wan't the best but we all loved it!!!  Everyone had a great time and I received 5 texts the next day - telling me what a nice program and dinner it was - yay!!!

Adventures at the Mall

One drawback to walking in the Mall in the morning - is seeing all the goods in the stores ... these new jeans with holes all over them are so strange to us!  I feel like they just got them out of the rag bag!!
This one was the worse for me - both the shirt and jeans are soooo holey!!  You kids could have been in the top of style - and I would have saved so much money!!
These holes are so big - cold air would come in!
When Heidi first wore some jeans with a very small hole on the knee to Ellensburg High School - - I asked her if she really wanted to go to school looking like that?  She said yes - so okay! I did tell her she looked like she should go out picking tomatoes in the fields!   At school she said the German exchange student told her she had a hole in her jeans.  She asked him; Don't you have jeans in Germany with holes in them?  He answered: Yes - but we don't wear them to school!!
Also at our Mall you can pay $2.00 and be in this Hurricane Simulator - wind blow you to pieces, I guess.  We only walk early in the morning so we've never seen anyone do this - crazy teenagers!

New Running Shoes

These are our new Altra running shoes - hope they help me run the half marathon!
Here are Dad's - we like the more conservative colors ... there were so many bright ones!
All laced up and ready to run!   They are the most comfortable shoes we have ever worn ... thanks Jennie and Heather and Lindsey and Sam especially!  Now if our old bodies can utilize them!!

Snow, Snow and more Snow!

Here are some pictures of our super snow the first two weeks of January - 2017.  It is so pretty!
We are very glad we have 4 wheel drive in the truck!  Also glad Dad likes to keep the driveway and walkway clean!
Parking Lot at Mall's Store - when I mentored in Montana, my little girls like to climb up these 'snow mountains' - once one of them found a $5.00 bill that had blown there!!
Parking Lot at the Fred Meyer's store - even higher snow mountain!
Last one for this post - reminded me of Green Bay and the snow piles all winter.
