Old red Jeep

Driving downtown Pocatello we found this red and white Jeep like our old one - that Gramps, Dad and Craig drove to Alaska to go fishing with Derrell...wore out two clutches on that trip!  anyway I thought we would have a blast from the past today!

More USU camp

 Proud Grandparents! - tired Joel!!
Joel and Gavin (Amy's youngest son) are the same age - they played on different teams.  Jack and friend Christian in the background played on the same team - Joel's was the only winning team!
A plaque at the front of the Bull says: "Meet the Challenge" - great advice.
Joel's awards - Shirt and Bag - thanks Becky and Ken for a great camp.
Joel and Gavin and Christian climbing on the Bull!

USU Basketball Camp - Joel

Ben drove Joel to Logan for USU Basketball camp on Sunday.  We drove down to watch him play and planned to bring him back - but he got an invitation to spend the night at his best friends house in Hyrum, so Kate and Anna will go down tomorrow to let Anna play with friends and bring him back to Idaho.  This is the inside of the Fieldhouse where Joel's team - blue pennies - won their semi final game and the final Championship game!
This is the awards ceremony in the Spectrum - Head Coach Stew Morrill is in the white shirt and tan shorts right in the middle of the couches.  Joel's coach in in green on the far right hand side.
Joel and teammates getting a USU basketball shirt for being the champs!
Joel was one of four boys nominated for Mr. Floorburner (hustle) he didn't win but we were so proud of him for hustling all the time!  Joel's coach is actually a football player on campus.

Joel's team was Fresno State - he got a pack bag for his team winning the 3 on 3 contest also!

More Circus

These trained animals were amazing - camel, Arabian horse, lama and a pony - there were also trained dogs and other horses - Anna said no body trains cats - nope!
These are trail bikes riding around this globe thing - first one, then two and then three!! We thought Joel would have enjoyed seeing this.
Last act is usually the elephants - these look old, tired and sad to Anna and me...but they did their tricks okay.
Nice weather - a little cool but a fun afternoon.

Shrine Circus

Anna and I went to the Shrine Circus at the Bannock County Fairgrounds this afternoon.  She didn't want to 'ride the elephant' - but wanted her picture taken near them!  It is the "Free Child Ticket for each Adult one" - so Grandpa stayed home.  I don't mind supporting the Shriners in their work for children.
The Big Cats were really something - three white tigers and two really huge Bengal tigers.
 More tigers!
This round thing went upside down and then back up - this guy did tricks inside of it and then walked on the outside - I told Anna - Don't try this at home!

Pocatello Happenings

With Joel at USU Basketaball camp - Anna is having some fun herself - here in Pocatello.  She made this pillowcase for her Dad for Father's Day - she found the images online and we printed them on that special paper and ironed them on the case...she embroidered red and then blue circle around the Grateful Dead design.
Anna told me her apron I made her is too small  - she has to wear her Mom's and that is too big! So we went to the fabric store and she picked out the fabric and we came home and sewed it!  so cute on a cute girl!
Janice and Wayne have been visiting their daughters in Oregon and Washington and Idaho - they called this morning and we enjoyed lunch at Elmer's with them!  So happy to be on I-15 so lots of people pass by - and some stop and visit!!

Wedding Dress

While Kate and kids were here after dinner on Father's Day - Kate and I started looking at Family Albums.  Anna saw some wedding pictures and asked me if I still had my wedding dress ...yes in the dress ups box!
She wanted to try it on - we could hardly zip it up - she is 8!
July 1966 - never been that slender since!  but have ten wonderful children and 28+ grandchildren that are way more important than being thin.  Anna said: Grandma I've never seen that much makeup on you" - and I told her she never would!!

 Anna in my wedding dress.

On this Father's Day, I thought I would include this picture of your GRANDfathers and your Dad - we all look very young - we were very young!!  Forty-eight years ago this July 15th.

Father's Day 2014

Happy Father's Day - 2014.  It was good to talk in Sacrament today - me: The Importance of Heavenly Father (who is more important?!!)  and Dad: The Importance of Earthly Fathers.  Kate and kids came to our ward and that was neat - glad to show them off!
We had dinner together afterward - we are getting spoiled having Kate and Ben and kids near!  I saw a cookie jar at a yard sale and decided I needed one now - finally I have grandchildren that come to my house often - so I need a good supply of cookies for them!
Dad had a good time opening his cards and gifts - thanks everyone for sending him best wishes and love - best father I've ever provided for you all!!!

Pocatello Happenings

So Harold is now a member of the Advisory board of the Pocatello Parks and Recreation!! two meeings a year I think! He is happy about it - saw a notice in the paper the first week we were here and applied - might help to have the Mayor as his Assistant Ward Mission Leader!
The University and Community Theater's put on the King and I - Anna and Kate and I attended - it was pretty good for a small town production.
We went out to dinner before the play and had to hurry a little bit - so these pictures are at 10 o'clock and no one was close to have them take a picture of all of us!
Dad's flowers in front of our house - he waters and weeds them and I think they are beautiful!
Also our rose bushes have grown from their pruning when we came.

The Road Trip Crew

Here is the road crew at the dividing stop - Emilee and boys to Salt Lake and us the rest to Pocatello.  Tal didn't want to get out of the car for the photo.
It was fun to have Joel with us - Tal still not wanting to get out of the car.
Sydney's friend Erica took a picture of the whole crew - it was so much fun to be with family again on a road trip of some length.
Emilee kept saying that those who were in the picture would get a treat - Tal finally decided that the promise of a treat was worth getting out of the car.

Graduation Party

Britton and Jordan shared their Graduation Party and a pretty - yummy cake!
Jordan wanted watermelon balls and 2014 - and she got it!
The fun party - new pavilion at the back of their Church - right across the street from their house.
Some of the yummy food - Dad grilled hamburgers and hotdogs - lots of yummy salads and desserts.
Jordan's pictures - people signed and gave her cards - also with Britton on the other end of the table.
These pretty flowers and cute notes with Britton's and Jordan's accomplishments - should have been on each of the tables - but the wind blew them over and broke some of the vases - so like in most of life, we adapted!
Joel and Talus, Baden playing football at the party.
The balloons were also a casualty of the wind - got all wound up together - but Jordan cut several off and gave them to little kids - fun.

Water Pad in the Park

Saturday afternoon we had a blast at the Water Pad in the Park - the boys loved it!
 Such happy smiles!
 Tal climbing up the ropes.
 Baden climbing on the disks.
Tal on another rope climbing thing.  Joel had gone fishing with Grandpa - lots of fishing no catching! so he came to the water pad a little late - but had fun also.
